The application to extend the appeal deadline and for leave to act as a director was dismissed because the applicant caused a substantial and not wholly excusable delay, failed to follow the court's translation procedure, and had no real prospect of success on the proposed appeal — the Small Claims Tribunal correctly held the claim was not founded in contract/quasi‑contract/tort and the proposed purpose (acting as director to pursue the appeal) was illusory and therefore a weighty factor against granting leave under s480(1).
