The court exercised its discretion under s27 in the public interest to admit Mr David Perry QC because the prosecution is at least borderline between difficult/complex and unusually difficult/complex given the long high‑profile history, potential involvement and embarrassment of local lawyer witnesses, the anticipated complex expert evidence, and because reasonable efforts were made to identify suitable local counsel; admission would preserve the appearance of justice and facilitate a fair prosecution.
