The trial judge gave adequate and proportionate directions: he repeatedly and explicitly warned the jury about the principal witness's motivation to lie and the need for caution; the recorded interviews had been admitted by agreement and the judge was not required to give any special additional warning about their evidential status beyond case‑specific directions; the judge's treatment of the supporting witness's evidence was fair. Therefore there was no miscarriage of justice and the leave application to appeal the conviction was refused.
