A conditional stay of execution pending appeal was granted because, although the appeals were arguable they did not reach a strong likelihood of success, the respondents would suffer serious deleterious financial prejudice if required to pay now, and the liquidators could be adequately protected by ring-fencing or payment into court; accordingly the court ordered stays conditioned on each respondent paying HKD2,000,000 into court within 28 days, with interim stay during that period and costs in the cause.
