Because the appellant was a juvenile who pleaded guilty while unrepresented and alleged police coercion, the magistrate should have allowed him to give evidence and call witnesses and allowed the Crown to rebut; absent that hearing the plea was unsafe, warranting setting aside the magistrate's order and remitting the case for a new plea and trial before another magistrate.
