Court convicted the accused who pleaded guilty and imposed custodial sentences (10 years for OKT1, OKT2, OKT4 and OKT6; 7 years for OKT7 to run from date of arrest) finding that public interest, the organised nature of the syndicate, the large number of migrants (31) including many children, and aggravating financial motive outweighed mitigating factors; amended harsher penalties in Akta A1644 are not applicable retrospectively.
