The appellate court dismissed the prosecution's appeal and upheld the trial acquittal because the defence had raised a credible debt explanation supported by the prosecution witness's own evidence; the trial judge properly applied the prima facie test and did not misdirect himself in allowing SP7 to be recalled or in admitting the diary; the prosecution failed to rebut the debt explanation and therefore failed to prove bribery or money‑laundering beyond reasonable doubt.
