Prosecution failed to exclude reasonable hypotheses consistent with innocence: although drugs and chain of custody were proven, evidence did not prove exclusive possession or common intention beyond reasonable doubt given credible alternative access by others, inconsistent police accounts versus early recorded statements, and separate proceedings against other occupants. On maximal assessment of prosecution evidence the court found reasonable doubt and acquitted the accused.
