The Court of Appeal held that while the individual sentences imposed by the High Court were appropriate, the cumulative effect of ordering them to run consecutively produced an unduly high overall term; applying the principle of totality and recognising the close factual nexus among the convictions, the court ordered all sentences to run concurrently, reducing aggregate imprisonment from 16 to 10 years while affirming individual sentences.
