The prosecution failed to prove the accused's knowledge of forgery beyond reasonable doubt because forensic analysis was inconclusive, multiple individuals had access to and could have produced the disputed signatures, investigative steps (additional specimen collection and telecom/forensic checks) were not taken to eliminate alternative explanations, and the accused's apology was not sufficient to establish guilty knowledge; therefore the defence raised reasonable doubt and the accused was acquitted.
