Appeals dismissed because the offences were grave, involved repeated sexual abuse of minors and breach of trust by a stepfather; public interest, deterrence and protection of children outweighed mitigation and the sentences imposed by the Sessions Court and affirmed by the High Court were appropriate and must be maintained.

The High Court upheld the Sessions Court sentences because the offences were committed at different times against different victims (not one transaction), the Sessions Court properly applied sentencing principles including breach of trust and public deterrence, and the cumulative sentence was not manifestly excessive or legally improper, thus consecutive sentences were appropriate.

Six-year sentences for each count were appropriate and not excessive given guilty pleas, the seriousness of repeated sexual assaults on an 11-year-old by a stepfather, and sentencing principles; because offences occurred on different dates/times/places they constitute distinct offences and the consecutive execution order is correct under s282(d) CPC.
