The sentencing court exercised its discretion within statutory limits and balanced aggravating and mitigating factors; as a first offender with significant remand time and a serious cardiac condition, and absent strong public interest reasons to impose immediate imprisonment, a minimal custodial term (one day) and a fine of RM20,000 was appropriate and lawful, therefore the prosecutor's appeal against the sentence was rejected.
