There was a serious and unresolved doubt as to the identity and continuity of the seized exhibits because markings and handling were inconsistent and occurred at the IPD after reporting, witnesses gave contradictory accounts about where items were found and who handled them, and prosecution failed to fill material gaps; accordingly prosecution did not establish a prima facie case and accused must be acquitted.
