The Court of Appeal upheld the trial judge's findings: prosecution proved a prima facie case; the chain of custody and chemical analysis established the seized substance as Methamphetamine weighing 763.8 grams; the appellant failed to rebut the statutory presumption under s.37(da) and failed to raise reasonable doubt; conviction was therefore safe. The 30-year imprisonment was appropriate and upheld; however the appellate court reduced corporal punishment from 15 to 12 strokes as the original number was manifestly excessive relative to sentencing trends.
