Section 400(1) of the Criminal Procedure Code is permissive and does not prescribe an exclusive mode for proving previous convictions; Exhibit P4, being a court officer certified record specifying case numbers and dates, constituted an acceptable 'other mode' to prove the appellant's prior convictions, therefore the enhanced sentence under s 39C(1) ADB was lawfully imposed and the appeal must be dismissed.
