The High Court affirmed the Sessions Court: because there was irreconcilable and credible conflicting scientific evidence (government lab 1.04 mg/L versus independent labs 0 and 0.002 mg/L), material and undocumented departures in the prosecution's sampling and chain of custody procedures, and the prosecution's failure to produce its SOPs, the prosecution failed to prove beyond reasonable doubt that the effluent contained Cadmium above Standard B; appeal dismissed and acquittal affirmed.
