The Federal Court held that the credit lines and rolling rebate were integral components of the composite gambling transaction (used to obtain casino chips for wagering) and therefore constituted gambling debts or parts of a wagering contract which are null and void and unenforceable under s26 Civil Law Act 1956 and ss24 and 31 Contracts Act 1950; the Court of Appeal decision allowing recovery was set aside and the High Court decision restored.
