Section 17 of the Societies Act 1966 is a specific mandatory code for cancelled societies and prevails over the Hindu Endowments Ordinance; therefore the properties of the deregistered society vest in the Director General of Insolvency and the High Court's vesting of those properties in the Penang Hindu Endowment Board was incorrect and set aside (except as expressly preserved).
