The prosecution failed to establish a prima facie case under section 14 MOA because core elements were not proved: material discrepancies and unreliability in witness testimony, lack of corroboration, incomplete and flawed police investigation (including incorrect house identification and failure to demonstrate sightlines), absence of independent passer-by evidence, and resultant reasonable doubt; accordingly the accused was acquitted at the close of the prosecution's case.
