Rule 137 does provide inherent powers to the Federal Court but those powers are limited to instances where the order is a nullity (improperly constituted court, illegality or lack of jurisdiction); applicants failed to prove the 12 April 2001 order was a nullity and therefore the Federal Court had no jurisdiction to re-open or rehear the matter.
