High Court held the Sessions Court's sentence of 2 years imprisonment and one stroke of whipping was not amenable to increase because the lower court applied correct principles and the sentence was within lawful discretion; however, the Domestic Violence Act 1994 empowered the High Court to impose protective and rehabilitative orders, and the court therefore issued a protection order, authorised police arrest for breaches, and ordered enrolment in a 12‑month rehabilitation programme with progress reports to the court.
