The High Court held the appellant's guilty plea complied with s.173 CPC and was unequivocal; therefore appeal against conviction was barred by s.305 CPC and the court could only consider sentence. The trial judge correctly applied sentencing principles (gravity, planning, violence, victim ages, prior conviction, public interest and mitigation for plea) and lawfully ordered consecutive sentences as appropriate; appeal against sentence is dismissed save that an ancillary order for rehabilitation counselling under s.295A CPC is added.
