Leave to appeal was refused because the applicant failed to demonstrate a substantial miscarriage of justice or any matter of general or public importance: the contested evidence was lawfully admitted or adequately contextualised, the trial judge gave appropriate directions the jury could be expected to follow, the verdict was supported by ample evidence (murder or reckless killing), and there was no reasonable basis to apprehend appellate bias.
