The High Court held respondent established qualifying circumstances under s63(2): a demonstrable division of functions that causatively impaired her ability to become self-supporting and a high shared standard of living that elevated her reasonable needs. The court quantified reasonable needs, found a weekly shortfall, accepted appellant could pay, and upheld a time‑limited maintenance award adjusted to reflect updated budgets: $1,500/week from 1 Jan 2019–30 Nov 2019 (less amounts already paid) and $1,360/week from 1 Dec 2019 until dissolution of the marriage.
