The Court affirmed that New Zealand courts have inherent power to make non-publication orders in civil cases but applied a high necessity test and held that the respondents failed to show specific exceptional prejudice or sufficiently grave safety risks to justify departing from the open justice principle, therefore the non-publication application was dismissed.
