Immediate interim orders were necessary to remove the listed trustees and to appoint independent interim trustees charged with arranging and conducting the prescribed Hui a Moriori to vote on specified Trust Deed amendments, to seek Te Ohu Kai Moana approval where required by the Māori Fisheries Act 2004, to organise independent elections on the Trust Deed timetable, to preserve trust assets and to report back to the Court; these measures were necessary to restore proper governance and protect the collective interests of Moriori members.
