Defendants were entitled to costs under the High Court Rules as successful parties; the plaintiff, a lay litigant, could not recover costs absent exceptional circumstances which were not present; accordingly costs were awarded to defendants with a discretionary 25% reduction to the first and third defendants' claimed 2B costs to reflect the plaintiff's conduct and limited success, while the plaintiff's costs application was dismissed.
