Application to strike out was dismissed: the court held a neutral reportage/public interest qualified privilege is tenable in New Zealand and not foreclosed by Lange; however the pleaded honest opinion defence was inadequately particularised and defective and must be amended within 30 days; factual sufficiency and responsibility issues are matters for trial, not strike out.
