Regulation 3(1)(b) of the HSNO (Organisms Not Genetically Modified) Regulations 1998 is a closed, exhaustive list of exempted techniques as expressed in the regulation; it exempts only organisms regenerated from organs, tissues or cell culture produced using the specified techniques (selection and propagation of somaclonal variants, embryo rescue, cell fusion including protoplast fusion, and chemical or radiation treatments that cause changes in chromosome number or chromosome rearrangements).
