On the balance of probabilities the need for surgery was the result of a gradual process due to a pre-existing isthmic spondylolisthesis and not caused by the 6 May 2016 accident; contemporaneous clinical and imaging records did not demonstrate early or persistent radiculopathy attributable to the accident; because the covered contusion had resolved ACC had sufficient basis in February 2017 to suspend entitlements under s117.
