Court accepted defence counsel's account that abandoning a transactional-sex defence was reasonable and not causative of miscarriage, but found the complainant's evidence about a taxi conversation was unreliable and prejudicial; its admission without adequate direction created a real risk to the safety of the verdict, requiring quashing of the conviction and ordering a retrial.
