On the balance of probabilities the respondent contracted Campylobacter from occupational exposure during shackling: (a) the employment task exposed him to sheep faeces which could be ingested; (b) non-employment sources were unlikely given frozen/cooked chicken and no family infections; (c) slaughterhouse work is a significantly greater risk group. Therefore the s33 criteria are satisfied and the review decision granting cover is correct.
