Given the planned, coordinated, sustained attack in a prison environment involving shanks and serious injury to a vulnerable victim, the appropriate starting point was five years and six months; no uplift was applied for prior convictions or prison status; reductions of nine months for youth/medical/disadvantaged background and a just over 20% discount for guilty plea produced a final sentence of three years and nine months' imprisonment.
