The Court held termination was valid because the retainer was not cancelled until 31 May 2007 when notice was given, by which time the Law Society complaint and the client's refusal to pay properly incurred costs and unfounded complaints had produced a breakdown in the solicitor/client relationship constituting good cause to terminate under the Contractual Remedies Act and professional obligations; therefore the District Court judgment for Meares Williams was upheld.
