The total knee replacement was required for degenerative medial compartment osteoarthritis that predated the 2006 accident; ACC correctly declined to fund the elective surgery because the operative condition was not caused by the 2006 accident and the claimed 1993 causation was not part of the lodged claim nor sufficiently evidenced or investigated.
