On the balance of probabilities the treating specialist records and independent medical reviewers (Dr Alchin and Dr Walker) were more cogent and persuasive than retrospective GP certificates and claimant material; the appellant failed to prove his covered disease was a substantial or effective cause of incapacity after April 2000, therefore the appeal is dismissed.
