The court concluded the original scheme was impracticable and inexpedient to carry out because the Royal Society had effectively renounced and consistently failed to provide candidates; the proposed scheme preserves charitable purposes, accords as closely as reasonably possible with the settlor's intent, and is therefore approved under s32 Charitable Trusts Act 1957.
