After evaluating aggravating factors (vulnerability, breach of trust, scale/duration, degree of violation, harm and some premeditation) the Court set cumulative starting point at 10 years, uplifted 9 months for prior convictions then reduced by 20% for guilty pleas, yielding a determinate sentence of 8 years 7 months with a minimum period of imprisonment of two-thirds (5 years 8 months); preventive detention was not imposed because a lengthy determinate term combined with availability of an Extended Supervision Order and treatment was judged sufficient to protect the community.
