CRAIG LEE MCDONALD v DISTRICT COURT AT CHRISTCHURCH [2021] NZSC 149

The Court of Appeal correctly concluded that the statutory conferral of limited bail powers on registrars did not oust judges' inherent supervisory powers and that the directions restricting registrars in family violence bail matters were within the court's inherent authority; consequently there were insufficient prospects of success to grant leave to appeal to the Supreme Court.
