Interim maintenance may include provision for ongoing legal fees where necessary to protect an applicant and where that inclusion does not pre-empt or usurp the costs regime; however s18B of the PRA is not an appropriate general mechanism to guarantee later recovery of such legal fees in the circumstances of this case, so the interim award must be modified to avoid pre-empting final costs accounting.
