The Court exercised its discretion under s 108C and approved the deed of settlement because the applicant provided sufficient information and legal justification that the agreed sum of $370,000 was reasonable in light of the asserted maximum claim ($575,000), the factual and jurisdictional litigation risks, the plaintiff's incapacity and health, counsel's independent assessment, and the practical benefits of prompt implementation; procedural filing defects were cured under r 1.9 and the plaintiff's naming was amended accordingly.
