The extension of time was refused because the proposed appeal was fact-specific, the Court of Appeal had properly considered and applied s 86 to the applicant's circumstances and reasonably concluded the 50% MPI was appropriate for accountability, denunciation and deterrence; the case did not raise questions of general or public importance nor an appearance of miscarriage of justice.

The judge did not err: she was entitled to accept Poot's evidence for sentencing because that acceptance was not inconsistent with the jury's verdicts (acquittals on 18 June did not negate earlier involvement), and a Band 4 starting point of 16 years with the applied uplifts and reductions appropriately produced the affirmed sentence; appeal dismissed.

Sentencing appeals: sentences and MPIs for Sharp, Chen and Loke were within range and justified by the scale of commercial pseudoephedrine supply, manufacturing activity, risk to children, need for accountability, denunciation and deterrence; Sharp granted extension of time and leave to amend but sentence and MPI upheld.
