Section 54(14) mandates deduction of the percentage permanent disability assessed under the 1982 Act from the degree used to calculate an Independence Allowance under the 1992 Act; the respondent correctly applied s.54(14), there is no discretion to avoid the reduction, and there is no general obligation to have proactively advised the appellant, therefore the appeal is dismissed.
