The Trust's express purpose is to fund a specific annual race (the Travis Stakes) or the Cambridge Jockey Club's programme; that purpose is not charitable in itself and the direct beneficiary (Cambridge Jockey Club) is a private, elected-members club not constituting the public or a sufficient section of it; therefore the Trust does not satisfy the charitable purpose and public benefit tests and registration must be refused.
