The appellant's deliberate ingestion of an overdose was a wilful act under s81 and medical evidence established a causal link between that overdose and the shoulder injury; consequently the shoulder injury is 'any personal injury' resulting from a wilful act and is excluded from cover under s81; the medical misadventure argument cannot be entertained because it was not the subject of a decision by the respondent.
