    Respondent committed an intentional and contumacious contempt by hiding the minor for eight years in breach of court orders, causing significant and likely irreversible harm; absence of remorse, persistent uncooperativeness and active interference with the minor are aggravating; balancing the need to punish and deter with the minor's welfare the court imposed immediate imprisonment of 10 weeks and indemnity costs.

    On the broad‑brush approach under s 5 MPPO the court apportioned child‑related and attributable household expenses equitably: exclude mortgage as capital expense, include domestic helper as child care expense, exclude entertainment/holidays and certain unproven items, accept an equal split of child costs despite slight income difference. Applying that method the father was ordered to pay HK$6,650 per month as interim maintenance, payable from 1 June 2016 monthly, not backdated; costs ordered nisi to the mother to be made absolute in 14 days; first appointment adjourned to 29 July 2016.
