The Court held that although the Magistrate erred in believing 'adult' in Roberts C.J.'s 1981 statement necessarily encompassed an 18-year-old, that error did not vitiate the sentence because the offence was aggravated by the bribe being offered to enable continued criminal activity and a Detention Centre was a suitable rehabilitative custodial disposal for this youthful offender; accordingly the sentence of detention was upheld and the appeal dismissed.
