The Coroner directed that the next of kin of 7 of the 39 deceased will participate, confirmed disclosure of the death investigation reports to properly interested persons, scheduled the inquest to commence on 6 May 2025 with 60 hearing days reserved, and ordered that outstanding requests for further information be addressed at a 3rd Pre-Inquest Review on 14 January 2025.

The Coroner directed that the Next of Kin of seven of the thirty-nine deceased shall participate; death investigation reports comprising statements and reports from 410 witnesses have been provided to properly interested persons participating; the substantive inquest is listed to commence on 6 May 2025 with 60 days reserved; and a further (third) pre-inquest review is fixed for 14 January 2025 to deal with requests for further information and outstanding matters.

Although the relief claimed is likely within the District Court's monetary and remedial jurisdiction and the issues are not inherently complex, the High Court must retain the proceedings because of (1) the need to maintain and if necessary modify existing restrictive/filing orders previously made by the High Court, and (2) the unresolved and potentially complex question whether the District Court possesses the inherent jurisdiction to make equivalent restrictive orders; consequently the case should continue in the High Court for effective case management.
