Leave to appeal was granted because there are reasonably arguable grounds: the trial judge's references to 'corroboration' and reliance on recent complaint and mother's evidence may mischaracterise the evidential weight; identification and the legal quality of the acts said to constitute criminal intimidation warrant closer scrutiny; and the judge misapplied precedent in selecting a sentencing starting point, producing a potentially erroneous total sentence.
