Although the confession was properly admitted, the Crown failed to prove beyond reasonable doubt that the organisation named by the appellant amounted to a Triad Society; in the absence of corroborative or expert evidence to establish that the described acts and nomenclature constituted triad ritual, the conviction could not stand and was set aside.
